Having sat through and delivered a lot of business presentations over the years there
are a few simple things which you can do to improve your presentation and delivery
Tip 1 Turn your watch around – You need to keep track of the presentation, but obviously
looking at your watch can be annoying for the audience, so turn it around so that the
face is on the inside of your wrist. That way it is easier to glance at it without being obvious.
Tip 2 Summarise – people faced with a long pc presentation can become lost, and not
focus on the key points, so summarise regularly, allow the audience to draw out the
key points by telling them what they are.
Tip 3 Avoid complex builds – animation and builds on a pc presentation can be interesting,
and make the presentation watchable, but keep them simple, and keep them consistent.
Tip 4 Notes – avoid notes, the best people don’t use notes, they don’t need to, the
information is in their heads. If you need to use notes to deliver it, then keep them
to headlines, and keep them small. The worst thing you can do is stand there with
a sheaf of papers.
